Sorry for our giddy silliness, but just as summer seem to have descended on Gotland and us at Evocative Games AB, we are here to bring you the most wonderful news of one of the most beloved projects we have ever worked on. Film Gotland has decided to fund the development of a treatment for our full length motion picture “Paradise”!
“What is Paradise?”, you might ask. Well, we are glad you did.
“Paradise is a full length motion picture that makes significant use of music to tell its story. One might call it a musical, but one can also just enjoy it for what it is without the need to label it. It is a story about the clash of traditional and modern masculinity, and about how solidarity can be created between disenfranchised groups of people that are often played against each other by those in power. The movie takes place in the small town of Paradise, somewhere in the state of Kentucky in the US, and the story centers on the activist and trans man Stephen, his nephew, the coal miner and union organizer Jojo, and their families, both chosen and otherwise.
Paradise is inspired by true events.”
So.. why is this story important?
In a world that seems to slip ever further into fear, hate, and violence, we firmly believe in the power of stories to guide us through and out of dark times. This movie is our small effort to shine a light into the lives and hearts of those that need our support right now.
We might be silly and old-fashioned, but we still firmly believe that nobody is free until everyone is free.
